Billie Dalgety (front) has rounded up enough players to revitalize a Waiuku Woman’s Rugby team this season after10 years of laying dormant.

After lying dormant for just over 10 years, Waiuku Rugby Club is looking forward to revitalizing their woman’s rugby team this season.

Spearheaded by Billie Dalgety, the team already consists of around 18 players and Billie is encouraging anyone else who is interested to come forward.
“There has always been talk about getting the team established and we just decided to get the ball rolling. I remember watching the ladies from 10 years ago playing, and have always been inspired by them, so I thought, why not this season?” says Billie.
President of the Waiuku Rugby Club, Brett Donald, is thrilled that the woman’s team has been rejuvenated.
“It is really positive that we have the girls back on board. There is also talk of having an extra U85 team. It is looking like it is going to be a big season for us, which is great.”
With the girls all having a passion for the sport, they are now on the lookout for a coach and manager.
“We are really looking forward to the season and now all we need is a coach. We are just finalising training days, so the sooner we have a coach, the better. If anyone is interested, all they need to do is contact the Waiuku Rugby Club, or Richard Yuill.”
For those who are interested in playing or coaching can contact Richard on 027 493 9349.
