Police were called to assist other emergency services to a two-car crash on Tuakau Bridge-Port Waikato Road that occurred around 7am on Tuesday 23 January.
Three St John vehicles attended the incident and treated two patients.
At 7.23am, Auckland Westpac Rescue helicopter was called to the scene to assist a male patient in his 30s who was a passenger in the head on collision and suffered abdominal injuries. The man was wearing a seatbelt. He was flown to Middlemore Hospital in a serious condition.
The other patient was also transported to Middlemore Hospital in a moderate condition.
