Fatality after serious crash in Mercer

A woman has died, and a man is in a serious condition in Auckland City Hospital after a vehicle crashed into a tree in Mercer on Saturday 30 September.

Police, Ambulance and Fire were called to the scene of the crash, on a forest track off Mercer Ferry Road at 3.12pm, with Westpac Helicopter tasked at 3.50pm.

The man, in his 90s was extricated from the vehicle before being flown to hospital in a serious condition with multiple injuries.

Unfortunately the female passenger had died at the scene.  The Serious Crash Unit will be investigating.
