Points and another podium for Liam

Local teenager, Liam Lawson, has continued his strong run in the Hi-Q New Zealand Formula First championship. Recently competing in Taupo,
Liam has bagged another podium finish and his second-best points haul of the season.

The Pukekohe High School student dominated the wet practice sessions the day before the racing began but his team struggled to find the same pace in the dry conditions over the race weekend.
Liam, 13, finished third in the first of three races and followed that up with two gutsy fifth places, holding out other competitors to bag the best points possible.
“Not the best of results but most importantly I finished all the races and collected as many points as I could,” said Liam.
The current SpeedSport Scholarship winner still leads the Rookie competition as the series moves to the Hampton Downs track as part of the Toyota Racing Series at the end of this month.
The SpeedSport Scholarship provides Liam with a season racing in a Formula First car under the guidance and tuition of Martin’s Sabre Motorsport Team, as well as a personalised race suit, boots and racing gloves from Chicane.
