“Anyone interested in bowling can join,” he said.
While the group is aimed at providing a safe space for people who have experienced a stroke or disabilities, there is also the opportunity for volunteers to help.
Ralph, who runs the Franklin Mobility Bus is able to pick people up, and there’s a wheelchair lift so it can’t stop you from joining in. There are currently pick ups from Palms Retirement Village and Hospital and Pukekohe Hospital.
“We meet on Wednesday mornings from 9 to 11am,” he said.
The cost is $5 for the hirage, morning tea, and a portion of that cost goes towards an end of year event.
“Meeting socially is good. It gets you out of the house,” he said. There are currently 20 members, including those from the original ‘Never Give Up’ group who are still involved.
