Last Tuesday saw a record number of players take to the green in the annual COVIC Vedi Veni Vici Christmas Classic golf tournament. Held at the Waiuku Golf Club, over 100 players took part in the annual event, which fundraised for an incredible cause, Michael Johnson’s Paralympic
Campaign.

Michael is a Paralympic Shooter, and has his sights set on Rio 2016. This year alone, he has taken out some phenomenal results on the world stage.
Organised by the renowned Graham Jones, Michael was blown away by the support.

“I really appreciate people taking an interest in my sport, let alone helping out with fundraising. Every little bit counts, and it was a real privilege to be able to showcase what I do.”

Graham Jones saw an article on Michael in the newspaper, and thought that he would be a great cause to fundraise for. “Not only do we get to play a great game of golf, but we are able to fundraise and recognise a local
sports person who is achieving great things,” said Graham.

With the support of sponsors, including many local businesses, every player came away with a prize and Michael was presented with a four
figured cheque. “Every bit counts, and this donation will be a massive
help. I would really like to thank everyone who came out and supported the event,” says Michael.
