Expensive start to 2016 for drivers

Ridiculous behaviour meant the beginning of New Year celebrations was an expensive one for two intoxicated men caught door surfing. “Two male passengers were travelling southbound in a Lexus from Pukekohe to the Waikato. They had started drinking early and were sitting outside of the car on the windowsills, facing each other as they drank their beers over the car roof and gestured to other motorists in a 70km/h stretch of road works at Rangiriri.” Sergeant Mansill said the woman driving the car told Police the pair wouldn’t listen to her and get back in until the long arm of the law reached out to tap them on the shoulder.
Both men received $150 infringement notices.

This weekend saw a 20 year old Waiuku male evade Police after being stopped for a breath test, which resulted in a pursuit through the township and out towards Otaua.
The driver was arrested and processed for excess breath alcohol, dangerous driving, failing to stop and failing to remain stopped for a police officer. He will be appearing at The Pukekohe District Court on January 27th.
