Building up charities

DW Homes are showing their point of difference not just in the homes they build, but the charities they support.

In November 2016, they rolled out their philanthropic idea, in which clients can chose one of six charities to receive a donation when they sign with DW Homes.

Sarah Beaumont, marketing and property appraiser for DW Homes said the organisation already do a lot of one-off events to reach their community, but this idea was a step further.

“It had been in the pipeline for some time, and it’s nice to do something continually,” she said. “The clients love it too, especially the fact that they have a choice of charities available.”

The team decided on several charities, firstly nominating three to four charities close to their own hearts, before choosing the top six. “We were able to choose organisations that we’ve personally dealt with, and staff were able to share their stories of how these charities have helped them.”
The charities include Child Cancer Foundation, Yellow Ribbon youth suicide awareness, Cure Kids, Cancer Society, Ronald McDonald House and Coastguard.

“It’s great that there is a choice for people. It makes a difference.” She said as they grow, it’s important to give back. Locally DW Homes also supports Waiuku Fire Brigade’s Poker Run, Kidney Kids, and Heart Kids, among other events. “It makes a difference in our company, and in the community. It is something we’re all proud of.”

Since 2005, DW Homes has donated more than $220,000 to charities in New Zealand.
