Auranga attracts 700 visitors

Sunhats, walking shoes and dogs were some of what was seen at Auranga’s Celebration Day on Saturday 20 January. The new development, near Drury, held the day to celebrate the first stage of the five kilometre coastal walkway opening. The community was invited to share in the festivities, with around 700 visitors arriving throughout the day. Dog owners brought their pets to explore the space, and their picnic blankets to enjoy lunch with family at the new space. The feedback from the event was overwhelmingly positive, especially noting the fact that Charles Ma, the developer, is going to great lengths to activate the community amenity early, and that dogs will have somewhere dedicated to them.

Franklin Local Board’s Niko Kloeten and Andy Baker cut the ribbon to officially open the new walkway at Auranga’s celebration day.
