‘Adopt A Tree’ Campaign Brings Christmas Cheer To Waiuku

Pictured are View Road School students proudly displaying their decorated Christmas trees as part of the ‘Adopt a Tree’ campaign. This was successfully launched by the WB&DA last year as a means of strengthening the links between local business and schools and dresses the sidewalks of the Waiuku Town Centre with a bit of Christmas cheer.
The concept, which has proved a great community success, sees local businesses sponsor a plywood ‘tree’, which is then decorated by students from local schools.
Businesses then display the trees at their premises over the Christmas period. Town Centre Manager Sharlene Druyven says, “We were very happy with the gorgeous trees collected and the kids really put a lot of thought into the businesses that were sponsoring them. A huge thank you to the businesses and schools that participated in this initiative, we plan on making more trees available next year due to their popularity”.
