Accident highlights rescue services

Two people were taken to hospital on Sunday morning after a two-car crash on the Waiuku-Awhitu road, near the intersection with Kaihau Road. The Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter transported one of the patients, the incident again highlighting the value of the service in rural areas such as Franklin.
In the seven days up to May 28, the rescue helicopter was called to 19 incidents, travelling as far afield as the Coromandel, Waiheke, Whangamata and Port Waikato, as well as callouts for Tuakau and Waiuku.
