Holey Cow!

A Dairy cow missing for days was found alive in a hole. This is her story, how she was rescued and the men who saved her. This was no ordinary hole. . . The Post gets requests all the time to cover the latest unfolding news. You never know what will happen next. On Wednesday last week it was going to be one of […]

A note from Emma’s desk

The photos just don’t do the Sunset Coast Rotary walk any justice, we really are lucky to have such stunning scenery right on our doorstep. Hunter- gatherer and I spent our one year wedding anniversary completing this walk over the weekend, and let me tell you – the sore legs are well worth it. They had several options to choose from, and with my pathetic attempts to complete any form of exercise […]

Please take care

To the dark haired lady who was driving her white Honda Civic north along the Awhitu Road at 6.10pm on Wednesday, February 24; please take care. Whilst I’m sure your mobile phone, or whatever else was distracting you is important, perhaps your own life, and the life of my son and myself are even more so. There you were, coming around the corner at the […]

Thanks to John Letcher

I would like to thank John Letcher and all of the parents from Waiuku Yacht Club for helping me learn to sail this summer. I had an amazing time and it was a great achievement to sail to Clarks Beach last weekend. It is so good that there are things like this to do in Waiuku for young kids. Ella Faithful

THE Franklin community were invited last week to attend two information and feedback sessions on Auckland Council’s draft Annual Plan 2016/2017, giving them the opportunity to hear what is proposed in the draft plan for the coming year, and to have a chance to discuss their thoughts about these proposals. Neither meetings were well attended. With only around 40 people attending the one held […]

Community spirit at its finest

MAUKU School, Franklin Street Rodders and Mitre 10 Mega Pukekohe are proving to be a great example of what community spirit is all about. The trio have all been working together to help raise funds for the school, and have created two great initiatives that the Franklin community should mark in their diaries. Dean Littin, Managing Director for Mitre 10 Mega has donated a trailer, which will be […]

Rubbish dumping at forest raises concerns

Last week, The Post Newspaper received photographs from a regular Waiuku Forest user, who raised concerns about the dumping of rubbish near the entrance on Ghezzie Road. Our reader expressed the concern about rubbish dumping, whose responsibility it was, and if was to continue, would there be the possibility of the forest discontinuing being open for public use. Sue Duignan, General Manager Customer Support for Waikato Council, explained that they had not received any service requests to clear […]

Giant spuds a no show

What was originally destined as a special social evening has left the Waiuku Lions Club pondering if there was something wrong with their batch of seed potatoes. Members jumped at the opportunity to take part in a potato growing competition, proposed by Tony Lewer last November. Last Saturday saw 17 of the 25 entries assemble for the great weigh in competition. All had bought a potato […]
