Future PM clear for Cody

Cody Ohms is a teenager who is certain on his career choice for his future, and is currently ensuring that he takes the correct steps to succeed.

The Waiuku College student has his sights set on politics, and after a recent meeting with Prime Minister, Bill English, Cody is certain that he wants to follow in his footsteps.

After being introduced to Young Nats chairperson via Andrew Bayly, MP for Hunua, Cody was invited to attend a question and answer session with the Prime Minister in Auckland earlier in May.

This provided Cody with a great platform to learn more about how to reach his goal.

“The meet and greet was a great opportunity to meet like minded individuals, and to hear Bill English’s journey to where he is today. He did say to me that it will take at least 20 years to make a Prime Minister, but I am determined to make it happen.”

As with every Prime Minister, a good selection of ties is a must. Cody ensured that he got the name of the shop that Mr English buys his from, and also touched based on the driving situation.

“It was fascinating to know that while he is on duty, Hon. Mr English is not allowed to drive, but does drive his children to footy practice and church.”

When asked what changes he would make if he was Prime Minister for a day, Cody had several suggestions that he would like to consider.

“I personally feel that the regulations of our environment need to be looked at, as we just aren’t taking the best care of it as we should be. However, it would need to be looked at in way that wouldn’t affect the economy. The New Zealand education, in particular the school’s curriculum, also needs to be changed. I feel that there are so many subjects that should be on offer or to be taught in schools that is relatable to every day life. As for the referendum on becoming a republic, this is a question that needs to be asked of our nation.”

To kick-start his career, Cody has joined the local Youth Advisory Board and upon finishing high school, aims to study politics, and possibly law or business, at Victoria University.

Cody Ohms is certain he wants to become a Prime Minister after being given the opportunity to meet with Hon. Bill English recently.
