Local business keeps Life Education moving
Riordan and West Transport have jumped on board to support the Life Education Trust by voluntarily moving Life Education’s mobile classroom between over 25 schools visited in Franklin every year.
Their support is invaluable in enabling the classroom’s educator Lisa and Harold the Giraffe to bring Life Education’s preventative health messages to children in local primary and intermediate schools.
“We are proud to support the positive impact Life Education has on our local children and are glad to help in any way we can,” shared Dave West, co-owner of Riordan West Transport.
The bright smiling face of Harold emblazoned on the side, is always welcomed by shouts of 'There’s Harold!' as it goes past children and their parents alike. The lessons the children are taught are about healthy food and nutrition choices, respecting their friend’s differences and how to be proud of their identity and confident in who they are.
“Children leave their usual classroom and enter the multi-disciplinary, 'magical' classroom environment,” comments Michelle Kidd, General Manager.
“Research shows us that delivering our messages in this manner increases the amount of learning and recall a child will have of our lessons. Local help is vital to the continuation of our programme in Franklin."
