The Waiuku Skatepark Upgrade Committee got another lift recently as KAS (Kids After School Waiuku) donated a very generous $500 towards the upgrade, as well as some great World Industries skateboards.
"After the significant community contributions from the Franklin Local Board and the Waiuku Lions Club, it is amazing to see other community groups coming forward. They believe in this project and are willing to give so generously for the benefit of Waiuku's skatepark users," said Committee member Catherine Dacey.
The group plan to sell the donated skateboards and many more as well as raffles on their stall at the upcoming Steel 'n Wheels event in Waiuku, with all profits going to the upgrade. Senior Skateboarder and Skate School teacher Jono Watson confirmed that he will also be in attendance.
"I'll be there, showing our upgrade designs and selling skateboards perfect for beginners, so come and find us for a chat".
Anyone wanting to contact the upgrade team can do so on their Facebook page, facebook.com/waiukuskatepark or contact Catherine on 027 240 8819.
