Pukekohe Park Raceway is in the running to host the 2018 New Zealand Grand Prix.
Hampton Downs have also put their hand up to host the event, along with Manfeild who have hosted it for the past nine years.
With the potential support from Auckland Council, the promoters believe Pukekohe has a chance.
The New Zealand Grand Prix has been running for 62 years and attracts some of the biggest names in motorsport. It is the final round in the Castrol Toyota Racing Series.
It has been dubbed the most prestigious domestic race meeting, attracting national and international competitors.
MotorSport New Zealand's promoter, Speed Works Events, have been recently awarded a five year contract to look after the summer series, which covers 18 race categories across six New Zealand circuits.
Speed Works Events were given a one year contract over the 2016/17 racing season and believe their new long-term contract will create stability, helping promote motorsport events around New Zealand.
A decision on who will get to host the 2018 New Zealand Grand Prix is expected by the end of April.
