The Waikato Regional Council says that applications for the Small Scale Community Initiative Fund are now open.
The SSCIF supports volunteer community groups undertaking ecological restoration via animal and plant pest control. This is the second round of funding applications for the financial year, with $70,000 left to award to groups in the Waikato region.
Volunteer community groups and individuals can apply for up to $5000, but must meet the assessment criteria.
The projects must directly promote, enhance or protect the environment and have a well-developed project plan.
Things that can be funded include purchasing materials including traps, bait, bait stations or pest plant control, native plants for use in ecological restoration projects and contracted services up to $1000.
Applications are assessed by a skilled panel. For more information on criteria, visit www.waikatoregion.govt.nz.
Applications close Tuesday 28 March.
