The annual Potato and Onion Triples tournament held at Buckland had to be postponed from 8 March due to some seriously inclement weather. Kayaking might have been a far better
option given the depth of water on the greens following the downpours we all experienced. Instead, it was held a week later in nigh on perfect conditions and 18 teams enjoyed a good day of bowling. Every team member received a bag of potatoes and onions and the
winners of the first prize meat packs were Peter Hunia, Skip, John Tukuafu and Donna Jackison from Papakura, with 3 wins and 22 ends. Peter Sinclair, Skip with Richard Sheehan and Sam Compston hailing from Waiuku were second with 2 and a half wins and 16 ends.
In third position with 2 wins and 22 ends were Tam Lowen, Skip, Shirley Furniss and Ron Carlyle from Patumahoe and the Best Buckland team prize went to Martin Wijdeven Skip, David Fleming and Hillary Radloff with 2 wins and 19 ends. The next tournament is
to be held on Wednesday 29 March. with the discipline being fours-pairs-pairs-fours.
