Tuakau children learn to swim

For the last six weeks, the children at the Tuakau Youth Centre have been given the opportunity to learn to swim.

The Tuakau Centennial Pools has resounded to the noise of excited children every Wednesday afternoon, as 20 of them have received free swimming lessons from former lifeguard, Chad Keven.

The Tuakau Youth Centre were able to provide the lessons for free as Chad volunteered his time, free of charge.

The children have all learnt the basics of swimming, with centre volunteers stating that the difference from when they first started to now is quite dramatic.

“We are so very thankful for these opportunities, and would like to thank everyone, especially Chad, for the help to make this happen. At the end of the day, this is all benefiting and helping make a difference to our youth,” says centre volunteer, Megan Groom.

The Tuakau Youth Centre children took to the swimming lessons like ducks to the water.
