Youth arrested over Waiuku burglaries

A youth has been arrested with regards to the burglaries in the Waiuku township over the weekend.

During the early hours of Sunday 5 March, three local businesses were targeted, including the Waiuku Cosmopolitan Club. In between 4am and 4.30am on Sunday 5 March, a group of youths smashed the ranch slider to gain access into the Sports Bar at the Waiuku Cosmopolitan Club. From here, they stole alcohol, and left kegs running which flooded the bar.

This morning, (7 March 2017), Police executed a search warrant on a property in Waiuku, where a 14 year old youth was arrested for two burglary and two theft charges. Property was also recovered during the warrant and some of it has since been returned. The young male has since been referred to youth aid.

Police investigations are are still ongoing, with further inquires being made in regards to those who were also involved in the crime spree.
