Has anyone else noticed how dim our streets have become since Auckland Transport started installing new white LED street lights?
I take a dim view of the light output of these new lights, which seem to produce less light and create a cold ghostly atmosphere compared to the warm fireside glow of the older orange sodium lights they are replacing.
It seems the wattage is too low, like the output of a 40w conventional light bulb when 100w is needed.
In extreme contrast, the new LED lighting AT have started installing on Auckland's train station platforms is excessively bright—perhaps they should swap the specification fitted on streets and railway platforms and they might get it right.
