Woody warns about leaving valuables in cars
In the last couple of weeks we have had a number of thefts from vehicles parked in driveways overnight.
What is concerning is that people are still leaving valuable items in their cars overnight, such things as phones, wallets, laptops and Ipads.  Just because your car is parked in your driveway and locked with those valuable items in it does not mean they will be there the next morning.
There is a certain individuals in our community that will roam around at night looking into vehicles parked on the roadside or in driveways to see what they can take. In a lot of cases we are providing easy opportunities for such thieves, who leave you with having deal with banks to cancel cards, insurance companies to get damaged vehicle repaired and stole items replaced.
Always ensure your vehicle is locked even when it is parked in your driveway. Take out all valuable items, I even leave the glovebox open to show there is nothing of value in there.
If you do happen to see someone interfering with your vehicle call Police immediately on 111, do not go outside and confront them.  You don’t know what sort of weapons they may have or how many of them there is, it could also interfere with potential tracks if a Police dog attends.
This week we have recovered an Ipad and a Laptop stolen in such thefts and a 16 year old youth is to be spoken too.
At about 9.00 pm on Wednesday the 7th of December a male who was minding his own business in Bowen Street was attacked and beaten by three cowardly assailants. It was an unprovoked and disgusting display of violence by these three attackers.  Thankfully some members of the public intervened to stop this attack or the outcome could have been far worse. If you witnessed this attack but have not yet been spoken to by the Police please contact the local Police, come in and see us or wave us down when we are out and about.
If you have any information on these thefts or the attack in Bowen Street contact the local Police or you can ring anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Cheers, Woody
