A black and white cat with a lid around his neck has been caught and freed from his not-so fashionable accessory.
Anna, from Waiuku had posted several times on Facebook about the black cat with white paws, a white patch on its neck, as well as a Sistema lid.
She contacted the SPCA who brought a trap to attempt to catch it a few weeks ago and on Sunday morning at 2:35am, the cat was finally caught.
The grumpy cat, probably grumpy from having a lid stuck around his neck for the past three weeks, was in the cage until the SPCA arrived the next morning to take him in and give him a check up.
"I'm pretty sure he has lived in this state for more than the three weeks that we know of," Anna says.
Anna feels at rest now that the cat has been rescued, but hopes that he will be returned to his owners.
The SPCA have checked the cat over and found he is very healthy. They put him to sleep to remove the lid and de-sexed him.
Anna says they have returned him back to her so she can let him loose in a familiar area. Anna will continue to feed him, but hopes that his real family will come and take him home.
