Yard Art celebrates 12th birthday
Celebrating a business birthday is an achievement, but reaching 12 years is a milestone, and this November, Yard Art Designs in Paerata are doing just that.
What has been described, at times, as a roller coaster ride, Tricia Joe of Yard Art is excited for the future of the business.
“We continue to grow, and have come so far since our humble beginnings 12 years ago.”
From selling HotSpring Spas for almost ten years and making Phoenix Italia statues for almost five years, Yard Art is more than just a landscaping business.
However, they still have local customers who venture ‘over the railway lines’ for the first time on a regular basis.
“That railway line has been a real barrier, but they always say it was worth the trip and come back,” laughs Tricia.
“We have since opened our sculpture walk which looks fantastic, and feature up to 40 artists with their pieces. We also have a strong focus on up-repurpose and recycling products. There are some really neat things that you can do with what would be described as unwanted junk, including turning tyres into outdoor seating.”
As a way to give back to the community to thank them for their continued support, each year the team at Yard Art hold birthday celebrations for the month of November. They also host an inter-school competition, where children enter their artwork and the public are able to vote for their favourite. The entry with the most votes wins a raised garden bed, Living Earth Garden Mix and seeds.
“This year, the theme is Wacky Weaving, and some schools have incorporated the competition into their school curriculum. We have seen some really neat entries this year, the children have been really inspired by their imaginations!”
Tricia says that they are incredibly proud to be locally owned and operated.
“It hasn’t been easy, but the journey has been worth it. Right down to being able to make our Pheonix Italia here onsite, we have been lucky to have the support from our local community.”
