Pukekohe Rugby Club had a successful weekend with four of their teams bringing home the goods with solid victories. Pukekohe Mitre 10 Mega Prems won 55-5 against Te Kauwhata EnviroWaste.
In a rather one sided affair the Counties Manukau Club Rugby Premier game between Te Kauwhata and Pukekohe which was played at Te Kauwhata on Saturday saw Pukekohe dominate from start to finish leading by 26 points
at half time.
However the day belonged to the Maka family, and the very rare feat of having both father and son playing premier rugby together. A proud moment for Pukekohe Rugby Club and the entire Maka family, as captain George Maka and his dad Latiume Maka, on debut, gracing the field together as triumphant victors.
But it didn’t end there for the Maka family as captain George Maka was also playing his blazer game having reached 35 Caps.
A lot of the damage had been done in the first half and paved the way for Pukkohe to more than double their first half score. Pukekohe’s Savelino Su’a scored a hat-trick and George Maka scored a double, with Cody Wheeler, Jarrod Stevenson, Mark Price and Jared Page also dotting down. Maka Waikato scored Te Kauwhata’s try.
